The Broncos game was actually pretty entertaining for a pre season game.  Though Peyton Manning only played one quarter (and threw 2 TDs) the game remained close the whole way.  It was however, a blazing 96 degrees at game time, and that probably only decreased a few degrees as the game went on. And if you've ever been to Sports Authority Field, you know that the bleacher construction only adds to the heat, being made of mostly dark colored metal.  In the end the 49ers were able to snag the win 28-24.  Eric Decker really impressed, with 4 catches for 38 yards and 2 TDs.  If this connection with Peyton builds throughout the season, Decker has a real breakout opportunity.  Other than that, not too much to talk about, the QBs on both sides had some good moments.  Brock Osweiler looked really good and Adam Weber even made an appearance, though he wasn't able to lead the game winning drive.

Tonight we head to Coors Field to catch the Rockies take on the newly revamped Dodgers.  It has potential to be a slugfest, with Josh Beckett going for the Dodgers against Jeff Francis for the Rockies.  I'm a little disappointed that Troy Tulowitzki isn't back yet, as he's my favorite player.  Hopefully the Rockies can stay with the powerhouse Dodgers lineup.  My prediction: Dodgers 6, Rockies 4.

August 25, 2012

Still been pretty busy of late.  Left from my hometown of Antigo two days ago for a last vacation of the summer before heading back to school in Minneapolis.  Spending a week in Colorado and catching some great nature as well as some entertaining sporting events should be a great way to end the summer.  Today we checked out Pike's Peak, which besides being pretty nerve-wracking on the way up and down was pretty awesome.  It would've been better if it hadn't been raining also.  Tomorrow we'll be heading to Sports Authority Field to catch the Broncos take on the 49ers in each teams 3rd preseason game, which means the starters should be playing significant minutes.  This will be a great opportunity to catch Peyton Manning live, something I've always wanted to do.  My biggest dilema is if I should wear my Aaron Rodgers, Arian Foster, or Drew Brees shirt to the game.  Hopefully I'll have some good takeaways from the game tomorrow.  Hopefully my fellow Gopher Eric Decker has a big game.  The NFL quarterback scene has been pretty chaotic this week, and the year of the rookie QB seems to be upon us.  Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III already had spots guaranteed to them.  But in the last few weeks Jake Locker and Brandon Weeden have secured starting spots, and Ryan Tannehill and the surprisingly good Russell Wilson are still vying for their teams starting spots.

Hope to check in tomorrow!!

PS: The Dodgers and Red Sox completed their blockbuster trade today, and it could have major impacts for years to come.
